 Since our first reboot of Super*Market  at Meltdown Comics was such a huge success, we’ve decided to put on another. So we’re sending out the message… we want more vendors!

You know we here at Bubble Punch love to bringing you the perfect mix of cute and geeky, now we want to expand into bringing you a bigger and even better variety.

We here at (BubblePunch.com) have been working on with Suicide Girls and Meltdown Comics on a hush-hush project for San Deigo Comic Con 2012 and this Saturday’s Suicide Girls x Meltdown Comics: San Diego Comic Con Kick Off Party!!

We all know that money is a bit tight these days so if you’re going to comic con and need some quick, easy, and inexpensive costume ideas here’s some of ours, with a little help from Suicide Girls, Meltdown Comics, and American Apparel.

And always remember, you don’t have to be a master cosplayer to dress up, or even have exceptionally great sewing skills! All it takes is a bit of imagination and motivation.

SuicideGirls team up with Bubble Punch and Meltdown to transform American Apparel fashion basics into striking Cosplay outfits for SG’s Comic-Con crew. The costumes will be debuted live at a special Pre-Comic Con party at Meltdown Comics.

We will be holding a contest where guests will be encouraged to come dressed up in their best cosplay creation using the “How-To” videos for a chance to win SuicideGirls and Meltdown Comics prizes! That’s not all…the amazing Liz O from club Underground will be djing and you’ll have a chance to get your photo taken with some of SG’s finest ladies.

We sure hope you all made it down to Meltdown Comics last Saturday for our revamped Super*Market event. If not, you really missed out on the beginning of something awesome.

Saturday was a blast from beginning to end.

From the fun jams that our friends at Tune in Tokyo were pumping out, the delicious treats, the amazing Snap Yourself! booth, the hilarious Defective Geeks Podcast, Nylon Pink’s special performance, to the super shopping sprees we witnessed; we’re not sure what was the best part.

Look, this party was so poppin’ that Captain America showed up!

Bubble Punch is revamping the Super*Market event at Meltdown Comics, gathering all of the most awesome nerd gear in So Cal to create a metropolis of kickass shopping in one place.

Super*Market was originally the brainchild of Jessica Gao, who created super*MARKET as a vending fair for comics and the arts at UCLA, then moved to Meltdown for a very successful run. Jessica says,  ”I couldn’t be happier to see the triumphant return of super*MARKET.  It was an event that has always been dear to my heart and to have it in the capable hands of Bubble Punch is ultra-cute icing on the cake.”

Along with hunting for awesome swag, guests can also party down with live entertainment, refreshments, and a chance to mix and mingle with other colorful and fun patrons.

Super*Market vendors will specialize in the bright, geeky, girly, and super unique. Jewelry designers, unique clothing designers, and even second hand clothing from Japan will all be sold for the first time in one place at this fashionably nerdy event.

Entertainment during the event will be provided by the DJ team at Tune In Tokyo, along with a live podcast from the lady nerds at Defective Geeks, event snaps, and much more!

The Grove was full to brimming with guests that day, as the crowd shuffled in to experience different aspects of Japanese culture at the all-day event, with product sample booths, cultural performances, and special appearances!

Bubble Punch was happy to invite our friend Simone Legno, creative director and co-founder of tokidoki to join in the festivities, and he graciously offered to do a meet and greet session with fans over at the tokidoki booth! Simone is a great supporter of Japan, with tokidoki having done numerous charity campaigns to help those effected by the Northern Japan Earthquake last year. We are inspired by Simone and his company, all working hard to support Japan at this event!

Simone drew some awesome sketches for fans on items they brought in for the signing!

Bubble Punch also produced our very own fashion segment that night, to give attendees a look at what’s fun, trendy, and fashionable on the streets of Japan.  We also had a special segment of the show dedicated to Sanrio and Hello Kitty! The crowd packed in to get a glimpse of the over 30 models we had prepared who were decked head to toe in Japanese street fashions! The styles we featured were: Lolita, Mori Girl, Fairy Kei, Japanese punk and visual kei, Gyaru, Wa-Lolita (with clothing designed by the awesome Doll Delight), and the latest fashions from international brand Sanrio!

One audience member was able to capture a the fashion show in its entirety on video!

We would like to thank the models so much for volunteering their time and energy for this show! We would also like to thank our friends at Tune in Tokyo for providing us with flawless and fun music for the fashion show, and also our buddies Mandie and Ollie for providing us with invaluable coordination support for this event! Thanks to our makeup artists Izzy and Jonathan and hairstylists Kaytea and Alannah for making the Sanrio models look picture perfect!

On December 9th, 2011 Bubble Punch (that’s us!) along with the help of 6%DOKIDOKI, Medicom Toys, Rune Productions, Sugarpill Cosmetics, Tokyo Fashion, [a]narchy hair, Royal/T cafe, Sapporo, and Jones Soda brought you Rune Boutique!

As you all know, the theme around this event was to bring the colorful and crative world of Rune Naito, father of the “kawaii” look, to America.

Rune Naito is not a name that is regularly heard outside of Japan, but has influenced some of the greatest ‘Kawaii’ minds, like that of Sebastian Masuda of 6%DOKIDOKI.

In order to help bring Rune Boutique stateside with a punch, 6%DOKIDOKI brought over their new mens line along with a colorful fashion show, Medicom Toys brought over their new Rune Boutique inspired items, and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu even flew out to make this event an affair to remember.

We really want to thank the 4,000 of you who drove, flew, ran, and waited in line! All of you made this event a huge sucess.

We all hope that you enjoyed your evening and continue to come out and support not just Bubble Punch, but all of our cross pop-culture related events!

And for some extra bonus points! We had an incredibly busy week, as you know. We spent the entire week setting up, doing inventory with our awesome volunteers, and trying to get the entire night ready for all of you. Everyone involved did an amazing job helping us put all of the pieces of the puzzle together. We definitely could not have done it with out them.

Now you may want to know, with all of our adrenaline pumping from the event, what could we possibly want to do after this big night?

Why gather up 6%DOKIDOKI, Kyary, and Mr. Homma (of Rune Productions), and the Medicom Toys staff and mozy down to Saddle Ranch in Hollywood, of course!

We had corn, biscuts, all of those good things… and a gigantic cotton candy.

Kyary was brave enough to try out the mechanical bull! She lasted pretty long too. Alas she did eventually fall off, not to worry there were cushions to catch her!
